About the Page Speed Test
This page speed test runs a Lighthouse lab audit through Google PageSpeed Insights on a public URL, using mobile or desktop settings. You get the performance score along with First Contentful Paint, Largest Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time, Cumulative Layout Shift and Speed Index, plus a list of opportunities and diagnostics that explain what is slowing the page down.
Lab tests are repeatable, which makes them ideal for checking the effect of a change before real-user data catches up. The mobile test simulates a mid-range phone on a slower connection, so it usually scores lower than desktop. Scores vary between runs, so test a few times. Prioritize opportunities that affect LCP and TBT, such as large images, render-blocking files and heavy JavaScript.
How to use it
- Enter a public page URL.
- Choose mobile or desktop.
- Review the performance score and lab metrics.
- Work through the opportunities with the largest estimated savings first.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good PageSpeed Insights score?
Lighthouse rates 90–100 as good, 50–89 as needs improvement and below 50 as poor. The score is a summary of lab metrics, not a ranking signal by itself. Real-user Core Web Vitals are more important for understanding how visitors experience the page.
Why is my mobile score lower than desktop?
The mobile test simulates a slower CPU and network connection, similar to a mid-range phone. JavaScript and large images have a much bigger impact under those conditions. Since most visitors in India browse on mobile, the mobile result is usually the one to focus on.
What is Total Blocking Time?
Total Blocking Time adds up how long the main thread was blocked by long tasks between First Contentful Paint and the page becoming interactive. It is a lab metric that tends to correlate with responsiveness problems, which in the field are measured by Interaction to Next Paint.
