About the HTML Source Code Viewer
This HTML source code viewer requests a public URL from our server and shows the raw HTML exactly as it is delivered, before any JavaScript runs. Line numbers, search and a head-only view make it quick to find titles, meta descriptions, canonical tags, robots meta, hreflang, structured data and scripts, and you can download the file for comparison.
Comparing the raw source with what you see in the browser is a fast way to find JavaScript dependence. Google can render JavaScript, but rendering may happen later, and other crawlers and AI tools often do not render at all. If your main content, links or key tags appear only after JavaScript, consider server-side rendering or adding them to the initial HTML. It is also handy when browser extensions or logins make the normal view-source unreliable.
How to use it
- Enter a public page URL.
- Search the source for the tag or text you need.
- Use the head view to check titles, meta tags, canonicals and schema.
- Download the HTML to compare versions or share with a developer.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as the browser's view source?
It is similar, but fetched from our server rather than your browser, so it is not affected by your cookies, logins or extensions. Some sites send different HTML to different user agents or block automated requests, which can cause differences.
Why is my content missing from the source?
If text or links appear on the page but not in the raw HTML, they are added by JavaScript after loading. Google can usually render them, but it adds a step and other crawlers may miss them. Server-side rendering or static generation puts content in the initial HTML.
Can I view the source of a page behind a login?
No. The viewer only fetches publicly accessible URLs without logging in. For private pages, use your browser's view-source or developer tools while signed in. Pages that require cookies, a session or a VPN will return a login page or an error to our server instead. If you need to share private HTML with a developer, save it from your browser and send the file directly.
